PAD3D was a very early (about 1993) zoomable user interface implemented on an SGI in Lisp using accelerated 3D graphics. This demo shows zooming, authoring, text, images, dynamic fisheye of source code, live visual bookmarks, and a nested zooming file browser.

  • I'm not *exactly* sure, but it was probably in 1993. It was a direct predecessor of Pad++.

  • This is awesome (especially the directory tree browsing). :) I'm a novice to computers, and this is really eye-opening to me in what computers and OSs might have been if history had taken a different turn in the past...
