  • @MastaSquidge did you not read my original commen? I made clear my lack of understanding of the tech, so your comment is a little redundant. If you want to fill me in then please do...

  • @Aaronage1 As others have stated, you have no idea what ray tracing is.

If you did, you would understand the point of this video, and why that is so special. You are looking at a video of the screen as it works. If you were standing there looking at the screen yourself you would be able to see that this demo produces near photorealism.

As of now, you can go download this yourself, if your video card can handle it.

  • Aaron go read wikipedia while posting more arbitrary opinions, hth

  • @ajfogg OR i could have bullshitted as if i actually know all about the tech like most others in the comments of this video?

Again, i was just speculating. Since you know all about ray tracing, please fill me in.

  • @Aaronage1 "I'll be honest, i have no idea what ray tracing is" you should have stopped writing here.

  • Have you heard of Pixar, the movie "Cars", for example? Do you know how they make their movies? Or any other animation scene in a big buget movie for that matter.

    Find out.

  • Brute-force raytracing = FAIL

Advanced math algorithms and specialized hardware to go with it = WIN

  • @Nightcover

Why? What did i say in my comment that was anything other than speculation?

It is too hard on hardware, this demo shows it, Intel's demo shows it. You don't need to know the ins and outs of the tech to see that.

  • Yeah, this is why you shouldn't talk about stuff you know nothing about.

  • point b) already shows that you have no idea about raytracing :P

there's a huge difference between rasterization and raytracing. especially a car and its curves and reflections are almost photorealistic in raytracing.

however, i agree that 3 cards to render that scene is too much. there's a long way to go for real-time raytracing.
