Another ole tune that has been in my head for years...and, it being my daughter, Charisse's birthday, it seemed very fitting for the occasion to express my love for her, her family, and Jesus. This video could easily express my hearts' desire for all the girls in my family....including mama..

The photo of the porpoise was taken by Charisse on a deep sea fishing trip her and her husband had this summer.

Wildflowers is the second solo album by American musician Tom Petty, released in November 1994 (see 1994 in music). The album was the first released by Petty after signing a contract with Warner Bros. Records and the first of three albums produced by Rick Rubin

Mike Campbell - guitars (bass, slide, electric, acoustic), harpsichord, coral sitar
Michael Kamen - orchestration, conductor
Steve Ferrone - drums
Lenny Castro - percussion
Benmont Tench - harmonium, pianos, organ, mellotron, zenon
Howie Epstein - supporting vocals, bass
Phil Jones - percussion
John Pierce - bass

Lyrics:

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, find you a lover
Go away somewhere all bright and new
I have seen no other
Who compares with you

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worries
You belong somewhere you feel free
You belong somewhere you feel free

  • great song and nice video .... except for the bible stuff, that sort of ruins it i think ... let beauty speak for itself without inserting archaic middle eastern religion into it ... seems as if you missed the point of the song and of wildflowers

  • everyone is entitled to their opinion...actually, I think you missed the point..I think Tom would agree...how sad that you believe the message of the home by and by is archaic to you..but, thanks for visiting...keep you heart open to others opinions, too.

  • Loved it and especially enjoyed the words from the gospel...

  • love this song and the video you made..this songs always makes me tear up for some reason

  • @evilgeorgw - there you go thinkin again

  • @foundmyrosebudfan amazing reply!

  • Find somewhere else to have your debates, I just wanna appreciate this song.

  • @evilgeorgw Tom was an extremely spiritual person. No matter what your opinion is on Christianity...you should respect the songs meaning for having such a deep connection to Tom and to the person who made this for his wife/girlfriend. Maybe if you read the Bible with a more open mind you would see that its a beautiful work that has a different spiritual meaning to each person and not just a "archaic" religious tool used by bible thumpers.

  • @calico992 Oh for I have seen the light, you were right, Almighty Zeitgeist was all truth..... My life is now changed..... try speaking for your self, or I could just say. Here is a Bible, go read it. Not that I want to get into Zeitgeist right here over this beautiful song. But a movie that mixes up the Kar'an with the Bible is not exactly the movie I would watch to get my lifes morals from. Have a great day

  • I think he's singing to me.

  • I'm pagan, and I liked the bible verses chosen, because they all are things that my spirit guide has taught me; true wisdom is universal, and will be found across the board in spiritual places, writings, and from spiritual teachers. I looked for this song because it contained exactly what I needed to know in order to live an authentic life, when I needed to know it.

  • tears flow freely when i hear this song. she belongs somewhere she feels free.
