As the world discusses the looming threat of climate change, we must listen to the stories and peoples who have experienced it firsthand. The endangered glacier of Mount Illimani - crucial to the water supply of Bolivias largest twin city, La Paz/El Alto, and the source of life to the small indigenous community of Khapi - is slowly vanishing. The stories that the people of Khapi have to tell exemplifies what climate change looks like today and shows us an ancient way of relating to earth - one that presents an alternative to the modern and insustainable development model.

  • Here's a crazy idea. That villager said they don't have enough food to sell in La Paz because they have 5 or 6 children. There is also worry that with the glacier melt there will not be enough water for the population.

Have 2 kids instead of 5 or 6. You'll cut the water-using population by 60% and do your bit for overpopulation to boot-- plus you can make some extra money selling crops in the capital.

    Pretty simple, really.

  • Viva Bolivia!!!

  • I love it !!! It something fresh and very real for the battle against global warming, I love that you included more than just the ecological effects and talked about how the mountain itself holds a value equal to that of "god" for these people. You are amazing my love....
