Erving Goffman laid the foundation for symbolic interactionism through his dramaturgical theory of social interaction. "Goffman had used the language of theatre to describe the social facade we create through such devices as tact, gestures, front stage (versus backstage) behavior, props, and scripts" (Conley 29). "According to Goffman, we make judgments about class and social status based" on these details (Conley 29). Using Goffman's concepts, we will focus on the stages of these people, who the actor/s is/are, and what their props, costumes, and scripts consist of. We will also examine their frontstage and backstage behaviors.
Through this video it was shown that we establish meaning through our interactions and that we are constantly involved in impression management. When we are in front of other individuals, our actions influence the definition of the situation, causing impression management to take place.
