  • I feel sick.

Answers your question? But what's this whole, "Fukuro" thing? I can't figure it out!

  • [laughing]

And yes. I'm currently studying psychology and some other related subjects, for the purpose of a story I'm working on. I can't say to much about it, but it's going to be different.

I don't know what "Fukuro" is or what it's about. Sorry. But if I were to guess, I would say it would have to do with violence, sexual frustration, loss of someone or something, death, or maybe something else along those lines.

Are you a fan of Silent Hill?

  • Your version is so much eerier, and I think that makes it better, since all the imagery is so perverse and animalistic.

    Good job :)

  • "I would say it would have to do with violence, sexual frustration, loss of someone or something"

  • @SpeedBumpRump "dead end"

  • @Taraka1 I did look at the sources that's why i said there was nothing in them to refute this. And i didn't say james was repressing his sexual urges i said he was repressed by his wife's terminal illness. He was too loyal to sleep with anyone else while she was alive and she was obviously unable to meet his needs although the specific illness isn't mentioned, why do you think he eventually killed her? Because by staying alive she was effectively making his life miserable, please read properly.

  • @joope666

There was nothing in the game itself to say James was repressing sexual urges, and going off the interviews they have nothing to do with James himself. At no point does he whine about not having sex. It's all GUILT and how he's dealing with it. The only one with anything sexual relation is Angela, and that's simply because shes reliving her experiences with her father.

If you're not even going to look at the sources I've stated, then it's not worth arguing with you.

  • @Taraka1 @Taraka1 Again, neither of those statements exclude PH as james' aggression towards his dead wife for his sexual repression due to her terminal illness and you were effectively endorsing lost memories as reliable and not mistranslated in any way when you quoted it. Considering how PH treats the other monsters it is easy to see his psychological motivation, SH was a psychological horror i don't think any of the imagery was purely to shock but also said something about the characters.

  • @Taraka1

It's better explained in the interview with Sato in the making of Silent Hill 2 documentary. And in THAT they explain that Masihiro Ito, the designer of the monsters wanted a monster with a hidden face. "Like that it was less human and more disturbing." So you're looking at a monster with a hidden face. The pyramid is NOT a helmet. That IS his actual head.

  • @joope666

I never said Lost Memories was reliable, I only quoted it because it was validated by Hiroyuki Owaku, who co-wrote the first game and wrote SH2 and 3. His own words to validate it was "Something in depth's of James's subconscious is trying to force him to remember his crime." And the reason why most of the monsters have a sexeul image is to use the psych-horror style of "Sex and Death", as stated by Takayoshi Sato, one of the directors of the game.

  • @Taraka1 Lost memories was not written by anyone who had anything to do with creating the game, and you must ALWAYS be wary of quotes translated from japanese to english. It is probable the quoted designer meant PH is only of Jame's subconscious, not just performing one role or representing only one aspect of his psyche, his treatment of other monsters does not fit with self-punishment alone. And there is nothing which said his helmet is his head, although i did not mean to state it is or isn't.

  • @joope666

Actually you're wrong. Watch either "The Real Silent Hill experience" or "Making of Silent Hill 2"

And the Pyramid isn't a helmet. It's his ACTUAL head! It's a Monster, not a dude wearing a hat.

And the book of Lost Memories says "Pyramid head takes the appearance of an executioner from times past, but is actually incarnated through James subconscious that feels he deserves punishment." This quote is validated by Hiroyuki Owaku, the games writer.

  • @Taraka1 PH is among other things a symbol of Jame's sexual frustration/aggression caused by/towards his terminally ill wife, that is pretty apparent in the psychosexual imagery where he abuses other monsters. The helmet represents the weight of his (sub)conscious and possibly denial/blindness, he is also a representation of judgment incarnate as he relentlessly pushes james through his own repressed emotions/memories and is indomitable (unkillable).

  • Fukuro means "Bag" in Japanese. Why the film is called that? I don't know.

As for PH, no, he is not a Manifestation of James's sexual urges. He's an incarnation of James's psyche that feels he deserves punishment for his sins.

The sexual imagery is targeted at the players mind, shaking their hearts. If you look, PH really isn't doing anything, but deep down you know it's wrong. Basically, the less you see the better because you scare/ disturb yourself thinking of what it's doing.
