  • Just an opinion but it seems that the US will mostly buy from US suppliers rather that international products even if they are better!

  • The problem with the Aberdeen testing is that DoD lowered the standards to a 30-50 pound IED not the hugh 500 pound bombs sometimes used by the enemy. Only Force protection's (FRPT) Buffalos and Cougars can survive these massive bombs since the company leads the industry on safety the past 4 years. The other companies did the minimum to qualify for the quaitity contracts . WHY NOT LICENSE FRPT TRUCKS OUT TO ALL VENDORS TO FULLY PROTECT THE TROOPS ?

  • those camelfuckers can blow up M1a2 abrams, they can even blow up those useless expensive vehicles. the explosive device will be bigger but the result will be the same.

  • It is a resistant vehicle to explosives.

  • they explode as everything else, they're only more expensive.

  • BluBlood, The slug can only travel at the speed at which the initiating charge propells it at. RDX/TNT mix have a burn rate of between 4000 and 6000 meters/second dependant on the ratio mix. Therfore the will travel no faster than the propelling charge can push it (this includes energy loss from transfer from potential energy to heat and kinetic energy). BTW Light travels at 3,200,000 metres/second. Sorry mate an EFP is not a photon torpedo...

  • Hey Team. I'm not going to spruk off about the Cougar, as I haven't had the chance to scratch and sniff one yet, but if someone who has used them on Ops can answer: What's the ride like (both 4x4 and 6x6) from the beam axle setup? What's the cross country mobility like? Is the interior aircon? do any of the varrients have weapon ports? are the vehicles set up for NCW (comms and data)? What is the largest calibre wpn the gun ring will support? What's the soldier's view on the vehicle?

  • Sure, it explodes outwards at a very high speed- sonic to supersonic. Nowhere NEAR lightspeed, unless you wanna see half of Iraq dragged along with the molten slug into outer space.

  • Guess who has the honor of paying for these? Well, it's not going to be you and me. It'll be our grandchildren and their children. And China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, etc. for the near term (and the UK, too--I think our national debt is held by China, Japan & UK, in that order of participation. Of course, "If we weren't over there, we wouldn't have to pay for it over here," or did I get that wrong? And the humvees only replaced the $45,000 jeep, that retails for $22,000.

  • All BS aside, EFP's are very deadly, they will penetrate a great deal of armor, regardless of whether it's Chobham, or solid 'whatever.'
