@flugel76 well I kinda stopped caring for the activity all together after last season. All I'll go see now is quarterfinals at the movie theaters because a lot of my friends still march. Marching band is the enemy...

You SHOULD care. Because since they dropped bugles, you're watching a bunch of marching bands without woodwinds, and you can bet your bottom dollar if George Hopkins gets his way, the Cadets will be marching saxophones next year...

@MarineBugler umm... the tuba's politically correct name is "Contrabass Bugle" ... just sayin haha
-
yeah it kinda does need the picc solo

Actually, some open class corps still use G bugles. I know for a fact because I went to a few rehearsals of a certain corps that still used G Bugles. However I don't care about whether they use G bugles or not. It's all brass. I don't care AT ALL. What spatula said is true. As long as they uphold their crazy musicality, I personally don't care.

Nooooo. the end
The title is wrong: there are no longer 'bugles' in, so called, drum corps. Should remove the word 'bugle'.

Drum & Bugle Corps do not exist in "DCI" anymore. Your title is technically incorrect. Yes, I am an old timer(the '80s were a great era), but at least I was able to experience DCI when it had drum and 'bugle' corps. Now, it's just "drum corps with Bb brass accompaniment". I am just awaiting the day when they add clarinets and flutes. You might have to change your title once again.

As long as the Cavaliers keep blowing my brains out; I frankly don't care if they use bugles, B-flat brass or freak'in kazoos....

technically they are not a drum and bugle corps anymore. the great key of G past away. drum corps still call themselves drum and bugle corps, probably just for tradional reasons. i'm not bashing anyone here, but i think that if we're going to keep calling them "drum corps" as opposed to drum and bugle corps, people cant be going around calling them contras either. i personally never call a corps a 'drum and bugle corps' cause its not true, but it doesnt bother me that these organizations do

I have to laugh, I wonder what would happen to you fellas if you walked up to the Cavaliers or better yet the Boston Crusaders and told them they weren't a Drum & Bugle Corps?? I bet you would find out real fast their are still a few traditions left over from the old days !!
