American Petroleum Institute Amateurish "Professional" Anti Tax Ad

I'm not advocating for or against this specific tax, but isn't this just the most amateurish production you've ever seen? The first guy actually says how bad it would be to tax the oil and gas INDUSTRY, (who outside of the industry really cares?), they ALL appear to be READING a script and the guy in the white T Shirt actually can't even keep a straight face! They need to pull this ad because it's nothing but funny! We could argue tax policy all day, but greater taxes on that particular industry wouldn't be exactly the worst thing in the world. Of course they would pass the increase on, but that only hastens our switch to alternative (non carbon based) energy and that's what we should be doing anyway! Regardelss of your opinion, the API sure didn't get their money's worth on THIS ad!

Government can raise all the taxes it wants, but the big oil companies would only pass it on to the consumers. Nothing whatsoever will ever cut into those gigantic profits they made.

They spout out 'raise taxes' and of course people are against it. They don't mention that the taxes would be against the industry. So manipulative.

They ALWAYS say that such-and-such will "kill jobs" like there's some magic jobs genie who'll DISAPPEAR automatically if we enact this regulation or that tax increase or get rid of some tax break. THE CORPORATE EXECUTIVES AND MANAGERS MAKE THOSE DECISIONS! IT's WITHIN THEIR DISCRETION. If the jobs are lost, it's THEIR fault for cutting them! Don't blame a policy. ugh

I assume the idea was to use "regular" people who are dumb enough to think this tax could put the oil companies out of business. They also must feel that, thanks to the Tea Party, these people are more likely to vote this November.
