InBev, the Brazilian-Belgian brewer, has indicated that it wants to buy Anheuser-Busch, the company that brews Budweiser beer. In an unusual (and welcome) move, Missouri's Democrats and Republicans have joined together to fight InBev's offer.

Missouri's Senator Kit Bond and Representative Russ Carnahan appeared on CNBC and threw down the gauntlet.

CNBC's Michelle Caruso-Cabrera took the opposite position, arguing in favor of foreign ownership of - well - just about anything American.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of the political push-back against selling our country to the highest bidder and exporting our jobs overseas.

Sen. Bond summed it up beautifully when he said "This Bud's not for you."

  • KICK INBEV OUT OF ST. LOUIS NOW!!!!

  • be happy the belgians buyed the budweiser PISS beer...

  • well said :) though patriosm is high in the US and if an Belgium company (+ brazil) takes over and US company its like a world drama but if a US take over an bel, european company then theres no problem at all :')

  • HAHA this is great indeed all american piss water brands are getting smacked in the face. I hope someday americans get to drink good beers instead of those ''spiced waters''. Maybe the belgians even chance the name BELWEISER!! LOOOL

  • They are useing our mony to pay for the sale . Jp Morgan (chase) is one of the banks finacing InBev theyThey are using our money to pay for the sale . Jp Morgan (chase) is one of the banks financing InBev they will get the money from our government at 2% because that's what banks can borrow at and Americans will pay to sell our own country out. will getteh money from our government at 2% because thats what banks can borrow at and Americans will pay to sell our own country out.

  • That depend on if you want to be bought , Anheuser-Bush was not for sale , and did not want to be sold , Brito and the strong arm bullys come in and are forceing the sale saying "shareholder Value " that is bull . this is a short term gain and a long term loss for sharreholders there will no longer be BUD stock so the dividends will end 33 years in a row AB has paid a good dividend.

if you bought 100 worth bud stoch 1976 it wouldbe worth over $4000 today thats a good investment for shareholders

  • "It's ok to buy a Mexican brewery , not not ok for an american one"

    How much hypocrisy ...

  • Bush won 31 states in 2004 - that's 19 fewer than FIFTY. Bush carried Missouri TWICE, thus Missourians are TWICE guilty. As far as my culpability is concerned, I'll just repeat that quote first made famous in 1974: "Don't blame me, I'm from Massachusetts."

  • budweiser is a picece of shit now

  • Some of those 50 states are more culpable than others: Bush won Missouri not once but TWICE. I'll conclude only by repeating that well-worn phrase from 1974: "Don't blame me, I'm from Massachusetts."
