Je suis d'emblée été saisi par la beauté et l'élégance des sculptures de Salvatore Iannella, où l'on voit les formes naître du combat encore sensible de l'esprit et de la matière terrestre. Dans le « Cavallo fantastico », je vois tout un héritage antique élargi dans tout un songe d'univers où l'étoile et la vague se répondent, mais le tout délicatement et fortement ressaisi dans l'emprise aristocratique d'une puissante intuition spirituelle. « Le amiche », dans leur superbe infinition, me semblent posées au cœur du désert, et comme creusées par son vide, dans une attente sans limite, sans impatience, à hauteur de destin. Des formes émaciées que l'on voit monter et travailler à travers l'argile, des formes d'une admirable maigreur spirituelle, mais où palpite le sang cosmique. Et si l'esprit du créateur impose sa loi, c'est sans despotisme, car cet esprit vibre dans les formes qu'il suscite, creuse, arrête et ouvre sur le mystère de l'être. Matière évidée sous l'effet d'une élongation, d'une presque lévitation comme un appel aux souffles du divin, comme le souci premier d'ouvrir l'apparence à la musique obscure de l'invisible.

Sono stato immediatamente affascinato dalla bellezza e dall'eleganza delle sculture di Salvatore Iannella, in cui si vedono le forme nascere dal conflitto ancora percettibile dello spirito e della materia terrestre. Nel "Cavallo fantastico" vedo l'antichità estesa in un sogno d'universo, dove la stella e l'onda si rispondono, ma il tutto delicatamente e fortemente ripreso nella nobile impresa di una potente intuizione spirituale. "Le amiche", nella loro superba tensione verso l'infinito, mi sembrano deposte nel mezzo del deserto, come erose dal suo vuoto, in un'attesa senza limite, senza impazienza, elevata al destino. Dalle forme emaciate che si vedono sorgere e precisarsi attraverso l'argilla, dalle forme di un'ammirevole magrezza spirituale, palpita il sangue cosmico. Se lo spirito dello sculture impone la sua legge, lo fa senza dispotismo, poiché questo spirito vibra nelle forme che suscita, scava, definisce e apre sul mistero dell'essere. I have been immediately charmed by the beauty and the elegance of Salvatore Iannella's sculptures. One could see in them the still perceptible conflict between the spirit and the terrestrial matter by which they are shaped. In the "Cavallo fantastico" ("Fantastic Horse") I see the ancient heritage extended in an aspiration towards the universe. There the star and the wave communicate, gently and deeply retaken by the noble enterprise of a powerful spiritual intuition. "Le amiche" ("The Friends") in their superb tension towards the infinite, appear to me as placed in the middle of the desert; as eroded by its emptiness, in a wait with no limits, with no impatience, elevated to the destiny. Those shapes moulded through the clay are emaciated, they are admirable for their spiritual leanness, but in them it beats the cosmic blood. And if the sculptor's mind imposes his law, it is without despotism, because this spirit vibrates in the shapes that it arouses, that it moulds, fixes and opens on the mystery of the being. The matter seems voided as by the effect of an elongation, almost by levitation, appealing the divine breath, as under the main preoccupation of opening the appearance to the obscure music of the invisible.
