This is a wind quintet arrangement I made of "Holly Rag." The original version was written for piano by Raymond Litzenbeger in 1911. This is one of my favorite rags, as it is delightfully melodic, bright, and cheery. It is an essential addition to any ensemble's winter holiday repertoire!
In this arrangement, each instrument has a chance to shine. The main melody shifts between flute and horn, and is intertwined with accompaniment and flourishes from all the other instruments.
The sound file in this video is an electronic reproduction of what the piece is supposed to sound like, although I am hoping to obtain a live recording in the future. The instrument parts are represented on the "piano roll" as follows:
flute - orange
oboe - green
clarinet - blue
French horn - purple
bassoon - pink
