  • Yeah what show is this on, and where is the rest of it! Fascinating stuff.

  • @Kozzy06 That's simply not true. Howe & Lawson 'ended socialism, gave responsibility to the individual, made millions shareowners, privatized failing state-funded and owned industries raising billions, gave millions the chance to buy their council house, force Britain to modernise, left the country far better prepared for the future'. 4/5 of what you just complemented her on were the achievements of her chancellors. She was just a bad diplomat, nothing else.

  • @ToaJoe She ended socialism, beat the argies, beat the unions, gave responsiblity to the indivdual, made millions shareowners, privitised failing state-funded and owned industries raising billions, gave millions the chance to buy thier council house, forced Britian to modernise, left the country far better prepared for the future and has been proven right about the EU.

She is the greatest peace time PM of modern times. Without a doubt.

    Completely turned around this country.

  • @Kozzy06 BS. Without Howe & Lawson, Thatcher would not have achieved economic success, because she was an economic illiterate. She promoted horrible Christian family values that make me physically ill, and didn't provide enough to the people she made redundant. All of the merits of her government are due to the policies of Howe & Lawson.

  • @ToaJoe

What did she actually do for our country? She had good economic success

You just said it. She turned the country from the sick man of Europe into a econmic powerhouse.

    That is what she did.

  • can someone tell me the programme this is from?

  • This is ridiculous. Why is Thatcher the greatest peace time leader? What did she actually do for our country? She had good economic success. She effectively destroyed our national industries and turned us into a financial capital. But what did she do for our country, really? Clement Attlee is the best peace time PM. He used to be a Tory, but he only wanted to help ordinary people, and that's exactly what his policies were.

  • Just shows how the 'more EU' or 'less EU' faultlines, then, and still, criss-cross the Labour and Conservative parties. The Conservatives more so perhaps.

Hague is now a minister in a coalition govt in which one of the parties . . LibDem's . . is so pro-EU they might as well call themselves the Brussells Doormat Party.

Be interesting to see how Hague goes . . will he be true to Thatcher's anti-eu legacy, or cave into the EU? Time will tell.

  • I bet the panto dame Hague couldn't believe his luck when he was made Minister of Defence.....ooooooh ducky.

  • That is what is going to happen to Ed M.
