  • @NeverDoubt1 __PT 2.....It did not at all seem like a black mail situation because hedda hopper became a good friend of Burr's. It is well known now that Raymond Burr was gay but back then, in the 1950s it would have absolutely ended his career.

  • @NeverDoubt1 PT(1) If you like Perry Mason you have to read the book "Hiding In Plain sight." It's about the life of Ramond Burr. Bet you can get it real cheap used on Ebay. It strongly "implies" that William Hopper got the part of Paul Drake via some kind of "deal" with gossip columnist Hedda Hopper( William Hopper's mother / Dennis Hopper's grandmother). It would seem that Hedda Hopper would write all kinds of gossip articles about what a hetro stud Burr was in return for the Paul Drake role

  • @inkey2 Unlike his son who always seemed to be getting in trouble, hehe.

  • I always thought that "Paul Drake" had the greatest job.....he wore a different checked suit every day....dressed cool, had a nice car, got to do all kinds of sneeky and exciting things........seemed like he never broke a sweat or did any real work......what a great job
