After all of the major labels' recoupables, you may make as much money selling 5-8 thousand CDs on your own as you would selling 500,000 with a major.

  • @robdrums69 True, but many of the richest bands started out with a label, which helped them become world wide famous, then they split off. And people who never get signed at all and just work with a tiny label can make fair money if they work hard and depending on where they live. But They can only make so much money. Which won't buy you a mustange

  • If you are in a band and want to get signed

    go to myspace and type:

    Sign My band

into a people search. They will help you get a record deal

  • check out my sony on youtube its gudd not a waste of ur time lol

  • it's a known fact that you'll make more money in the music business being on your own label - than you will signed to a record label.

It's sad but true. Musicians don't make money, unless they are selling MULTIPLE MILLION COPIES of their albums.

Record Execs are making the most money. Look at Pdiddy, perfect example. He's a rec exec now..of course, more money!

  • try and get 300 people 4 times a week to come to a show when you're playing to people that can't afford to come to one show a week.

Your answer is move somewhere else.

My response is why would I move somewhere else where they are inundated with so many bands they can't pick one to come out and support. Why move there when the cost of living will go up and my income will be less?

Obviously someone doing that well will get a contract. But they don't need one bc they are making more on their own
