Head phones plugged into lineout of the cub head, reduces alot of the volume, so you can increase the master volume alot more, whilst still sounding good. thumbs up or down , all good!!

  • i habe the same head,,,do you recomend to change (upgrade ) the tubes...

    grat idea by the way

  • @frans688

I dont have this amp any more, although I wish i kept it!! changing the power tubes ( it needs biasing!!) made it more transparent and brighter, although changing the pre amp tubes is a lot easier and cheaper.!!

I think if you have to change it that much it's probably the wrong amp!! (for you)!!

  • why not just have this amp or even a 30 watter and use a volume pedal in the FX loop?

  • @Nimrod9458

thanks for the comment, I dont have this amp anymore, or a volume pedal!! If I had both, I probably would have eventually worked it out!!

    regards.

  • Does this mean that even the <1 watt setting is too loud for bedroom use?

  • @minedarea

I have actually sold this amp, I now have an Ampmaker WF-55 with a variable voltage selector, even at 0.4 watts!!! the ampmaker is still loud for room use.

for best bedroom valve amp tones, wait until everyone/neighbours are out, use ear plugs, then crank the amp to the max!!

ps , I havnt found a useable tone at bedroom levels yet either!!! if i ever do i'll let you know!!

  • thaks a lot this is realy helpfull,,,, tha is what i am looking,,, so thanks again

  • @frans688

I changed mine for JJ EL84s, it gave me more headroom, warmer sound, and less fizzy distortion when boostiing the gain...

    Totally worth it!

For the bias adjust, you can actually play with it a bit and obtain a compressed/tighter sound, or a more open/beefier output.

I am actually considering adding an external pot in parralel because it makes the CUB achieve another level of tone.

Just be careful with it, you don't want it too hot or cold and damage the amp.

  • @imakingprawnok Ha! Thanks for your response. I'm looking to buy my first valve amp, but trying to find one quiet enough for home use. I really was hopeful about this one. Oh, well.

  • @gorbacovya explain why??!!
