@dsurtai1 I couldn't agree with you more.... imo Stuff was the hardest swingin cat to ever scrape on a cigar box.!.. not imprisoned by idiomatic concepts that are the ruin of most classical players. Good luck w. the mix, but throw some Eddie South in there too...

the 3rd comment here is in Polish... Because Poland is a land of the great violin players!
Stuff Smith is the killer!!! For me the esence of jazz: great deal of swing with strong flavour of blues.

Both Grappelli and Smith are great. As a violinist, i prefer Stuff because he did things with the violin that i previously thought only horn players can do. Grappelli's style is more of a classical virtuosic Bluegrass swing style. When u hear him play, u know its the violin. When Stuff plays the violin... the instrument transforms into something else. Im gonna have fun mixing elements from Stuff Smith, Grappelli, Didler Lockwood, Jean Luc Ponty, and Regina Carter together to make a new style.

Stuff Smith is one of the most underrated Jazz violinists of all time. But he was one of the most talented. This jam session is incredible.
