A twenty-three-year old cassette tape found lying in a Himalayan glacier has turned out to be a sound diary made by the Kent mountaineer Julie Tullis who died after climbing the summit of K2 in the 1980s. The tape found by a local mountain guide passed between a succession of climbers from Japan to Italy. But it's finally been sent back to Julie's husband and family in Groombridge.

  • I just finished reading about Julie Tullis and other women climbers. I wept when I reached the part where she died. She really put up with a lot of abuse in the beginning, I am happy for her that she reached K2 summit before she died. Julie, rest in peace, sweet girl.
