America is at the Empire stage right now, and has been since about WW2. Hopefully once we decline as a nation, we'll settle down and start focusing on taking care of ourselves rather than enriching the top. I want to see another bloody revolution, to be honest.

I totally know what you mean by that statement. If I try to talk to my friends and family about books about history and policy . . "deep stuff", they wouldn't know how to respond. All they talk about is work, cars, entertainment, and the mainstream media news. That's why I like you tube so we can have deep discussions. XD

Are you Cris Rock's long lost brother? Or him in disguise?
The face, the voice, the way you talk, it all seems so similar. 0_o

@Swordsage and, on the more prioritized side, it will save money in sch a profound way that this country will not be slipping on itself as it is now

@Swordsage and speaking colleges and universities, I think that the notion of required"general education" courses should not even exists. and there shouldn't be a minimum or maximum unit requirement that the student must fulfill in order to graduatte. all this is just my personal opinion. students should just declare a major and automatically be given a hardcopy or electronic list of the courses the major/degree itself actually needs. this will save time and many appointments with advisors

@Swordsage and speaking of education, i thnk that the main problem that is plaguing the countries education is not a bunch of dumb druggies or defective teachers. it is about how inefficient the system makes it for the student. what I mean is that I think that we should, from grade school to college, cut out all those extracurricular material and biased social science and calculus, and shakespeare writs from the requirements section and move them into the optional/major requirements section

@Swordsage i personally think that liberals today are as superficial as conservatives. for example, you have conservatives who always seem to be claiming that they are trying to protect the "american" way of life and so on by going after homosexuals. on the other hand, liberals try to make it seem like they are working "for the people"by actually harming them by suppoting gun control/banning and blindly blaming teachers for the failings of indviduals who are too lazy to study hard

(continuing my previuos comment) what mean is that I think that the majority of governments, armed forces, national guards, militias, and police forces, if even darker all, are not there to protect and serve its citizens and put down criminals but rather to silently oppress the peoplej. to be more clear, i just believe that every human being deserves the right to own firearms for his or her own defense aganist criminals and not to sound too dark, sometimes even against his or her own government

I totally agree with you (swordsage) on the point that we are hypocritical in the sense that we tend to preach peace and love but end up doing the opposite. But, I was just wonderng if you would agree that not all private legal gun owners are immature people that fantasize all day about hurting and butchering people. I mean I believe that the actual majority of liscenced gun owners not just in america but around the world have good reason to own firearms in the name of self-defense

i do not think that homosexuality is really a so-called "sin". From how I see it, there's got to be some natural and biology-psychological basis to homosexuality in certain humans. I think it is kind of like genetic variation in a psychological genepool. I mean, there is got to be a natural or legitimate reason why people have been practicing sodomy and homosexuality for milleniums or I should say probably since the beginning of human socirty. Pardon me if you think comment is off subject
(continuing form last post) another point that I just want to bring up, and hopefully know your opinion, is that alot (sorry that I do not have any stats) of gun control activists, or I should say gun banning activists, seem to be persecuting the wrong people for gun crimes. what I mean is that a good portion of them, if not all of them, seem to be going after the law-abiding gun owner instead of the street thug /gang member who is either underaged or simply obtained gun through smuggling

@XLnotsofunny To sum up my opinion on gun ownership: I do think that the laws written right now DO effect the wrong people. Criminals are considered just that because they break laws. If you make a law saying people shouldn't have handguns in a certain spot, why would criminals suddenly decide to follow THIS law, even though they're breaking other ones? It's an illogical concept.

By your standards, the only place on earth that is mature when it comes to sex is probably Western Europe.
Everyone else is either just like America if not MORE repressed (try talking about Sex in a Muslim country).
And before we praise Europe's maturity too much....they were slaughtering minorities and waging war to the tune of 40 million dead only 60-70 years ago.
The social maturity that we see in Europe today is a VERY recent development.

It's definitely true what you say, all of it. I'\m not trying to hold Europe up to a pedestal... I know all too well how much crap they've started in the past, and maybe what we're seeing is them trying to brush it aside, or maybe start to evolve from that culturally, who knows? Still, it doesn't mean the rest of the world shouldn't follow suit. But even Europe has a long way to go towards humane treatment among all humans... we all have a long way to go.

You nailed it again! Seems that being smart and emotionally stable are seen as bad things by American culture at large.
You and I have spoken on this before, but it bears repeating. In our schools, "Brain", "Nerd", "Bookworm", and similar epithets ARE epithets! It is considered and INSULT to call someone intelligent.
But Jock? That's quite alright. AND IT SHOULD BE! Different people have different talents, and we do not need to be at each other's throats because of it.
