Hey Ben. Very informative. Enjoyed watching. I live in Scottsdale, and it is very bright, but we have lots of hummingbirds year round. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Hank

Ben, where is your camera situated? And do you use a shutter release?
Thank you for a fantastic video.

Great staff ! I am just starting with photography and I really like to shoot hummingbirds.
My setting: no flash, natural light, prefocus, 400 mm, f5.6, T~1000-2000, live mode - silent mode (looks like hummingbirds are afraid of shooter noise).
I have to try your way with flash.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Gregory.

Wow these birds are so amazing! Thanks for sharing these tips and wonderful photos. I recently tooks some photos of a hummingbird that are around my work place. I got a few and was so excited. I even got one with the bird in flight but was out of focus (this is a real achievement for me). You video has given me an tip on what I should do next - manual focus on the flower first. Wish me luck!!!

at 1:20 look at the trees on his left, u'll see a hummingbird stopping there for a sec and fly again.

I can't wait for hummingbirds to show up this year. I am anxious to film them with my Canon 7D.

I hope my birds show up this year. I had my feeder out the first time I bought my camera but obviously I did not know what I was doing. Last year they did not show up. I wish that I had your video then.
Great vids Ben. The birds, flowers depth-of-field look absolutely delicious... Keep up the great work!
When you photograph hummingbirds, do you use manual or autofocus?

I always manual focus right where the bird is going to be. Right in front of the flower which I have cut off and stuck in a little holder. Then put a little sugar water in the flower and wait. No problem. Thanks
