Governor Janaka Priyantha Bandara

The swearing in took place at the Presidents House. The vacancy was created by the death of Mohan Saliya Ellawela. Jayasinghe Mudiyanselage Janaka Priyantha Bandara is the 7th Governor of Sabaragamuwa. He is a past pupil of St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia. He graduated from the Colombo University. After becoming a Lawyer in 1995, he served at the Embilipitiya Courts for about seven years. He was also a Magistrate, an Additional District Judge in Colombo, Pelmadulla, Rakwana, Bibile and Wellawaya from 2002. Jaanaka Bandara had also served at the Treasury from 2006 to 2008. Thereafter, he assumed duties as Sri Lankas Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath, Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana and Presidents Secretary Lalith Weeratunga were present at the swearing in ceremony.
