When Joe's back goes out and forces him into a stay at the hospital, Brian takes over Sandpiper. His eagerness is soon deflated, when all his new ideas and crazy promotions turns into a disastrous mess.
When Joe returns he finds the Airport in complete chaos, with the Marching band and the team mascot ready to board the plane for a world record attempt, and Brian looking for the plane after it went missing.
according to Susan Beegel, who is a Herman Melville scholar, Melville only visited the island from july 6 1852 to july 9 1852. That was said to be his only time on the island.

@SuttonSantiniPaulo must be an editorial error or evidence of Brian's lack of knowledge about his own Island... Herman Melville did infact reside in Nantucket... also most accounts say his stay was brief

Brian says that Herman Melville never lived on the island. On the episode, This Old House, Melville actually lived in the Hacket house prior.
