well i know that they didnt know alot about the wreck but, they should have known at least that the ship wouldnt be in PERFICT condition. lol
-
@zacknatalie09 - In 1977 when work started on the film, they DID think the ship would be in near perfect condition due to no light, minimal marine growth and no oxygene down there. Also, this film is based around a fictionalbook, in which the ship is represented intact as a hull.

@railwaymguy They didnt know that at the time the movie was made. While there were some reports that the ship broke apart many people testified, and the subsequent inquiries, said that the ship sank intact. It was only after they found the wreck in 1985 that they finally learned the truth.

Holy shit, it's Obi-Wan!

The wreck is impossible to raise, almost now. I have been told the the wreck of Titanic is going to disappear in a few years because of the bad conditions of the seabed in which she is. She has been gnawed for years by sea water...
What I loved most about the story was that after all that hard work to find the Bizanium, it was actually buried in Southby in a fake grave OOPS!
Flop or no flop, I Love this film! Maybe naive to think the wreck would be as perfect, but as RaiseTheTitanic1980 said, back then they really thought it would be, due to lack of light and oxygen and marine growth down that deep. How wrong they were!
Still, a classic and one I remember fondly as a kid :-)

@R1CH130 - I was 10 years old when I watched the film for the first time in my local cinama. I too have fond memories of the film. I am happy to see I am not alone.

@RaiseTheTitanic1980 Unfortunately, I never got to watch it at the cinema as i was too young, but I sae it when it first aired on TV in the early 80's when I was aged around 7 I guess. I stil have it recorded on VHS off the TV, complete with commercials lol
I really should look to buy it on DVD now!

@R1CH130 - If you do decide to go for a DVD copy, get hold of the 2007 'Network' release. I worked on that DVD and supplied the Special Features section and wrote the inner sleeve notes. Of interest, if you are on Facebook, I have a group devoted to the movie. Check my videos here for my Facebook group trailer.

This movie cost $80- $105 million in todays money.
James cameron copied the undewater scenes nearly shot for shot in "the abyss" even the submeribles look alike.

@raymondleeleggs - No he didn't and the subs in Camerons 'The Abyss' look nothing remotely like the one's in RtT.
