http://www.theprimalprepper.com A YouTuber had asked for blueprints of the NFT system. I don't have blueprints, but here is a quick run down of the different elements from the fish tank, through the filters, feeding the plants, down into the sump, and back again.

  • will it be enough with only 2 fish?

  • @chandrawib I have since taken down this system, but just a couple goldfish was plenty for this small amount of growing area.

  • what type of connections are you using to make the pipes into the buckets water tight? simply just pvc adapters mpt x slip? are you using any type of sealant? silicone, etc. thanks in advance for the response. I'm in the process of setting up my first ap build :)

  • @dmorimoto87 they are called uniseals. Maybe I'll do a video on them because they are pretty awesome.

  • Great job on building that system! I was amazed to see the number of plants that you were able to grow using it. Are you looking at growing crops for commercial distribution? I noticed that you built the system in your balcony, what form of lighting are you planning to use, or are you going to use natural lighting? Thanks!

  • @lovingmygarden It's definitely not big enough for any sort of commercial production. It just provides me with some lettuce and things. I'm only using natural light here, and that has proven to be a limiting factor. During the summer months there is an overhang that blocks much of the sun. C'est la vie.

  • This is not a NFT system, sorry...

Your system is a RECYCLED PUMP FEEDING or PVC tube system, not NFT system!

But you're system are so nice ;)

  • @bluemist431 Ya know, I'm not entirely sure. The greater the height difference between the initial outlet and the final outlet, the greater the flow will be. I wanted a high volume of flow to push through the sand filter, so that's why I built it this way.

You could probably get away with a more horizontal system, but you'll be trading flow and/or pressure.

  • Why do you need to have your red filter buckets at different heights? I understand that gravity moves the water, but since the out-flow pipes are already higher than the in-flow pipes, is it necessary to make a step system like you have? or will a straight-line system work similar?
