(For the entire clip, visit antishostile at www.youtube.com/antihostile.) On of the keys of black nationalism is an understanding of who blacks are as a people, which includes their history, their culture, and their heritage dating back to Africa. In this clip, Malcolm X insists upon the importance of self-knowledge for black people.

  • STFU with the "I'm white" comments. Just. Shut. The. Hell. Up. Nobody cares anymore. Nobody is unique because they're looking through the other side's eyes now. Knowledge is knowledge, and no matter what race you are, those who are ignorant are without power. Welcome to 2011.

  • At the end, The reporter was like " You Motherfucker "

  • @Dktunder14 I'm sorry to hear that. The 60's was the best decade for the civil rights movement and they had a mandate from the people to change things...and they did. But it was still not enough. Perhaps someday, another leader can help your people rise up and overthrow their ignorance again...overthrow the lil wayne wannabes and prison culture mentality that is all too pervasive in america. There is so much that has been wasted.

  • @LordMalice6d9 so i guess the many accounts of slaves bring brutalized on the slave ships is just a myth?

plus: the arabs held slaves on account of being from a slave family..not on color of skin, heck the arabs even had other arab and euro slaves as well (still dont make it right)...ALSO, many slaves from the arab slave trade rose to prominent positions

  • @Ghaztoir The last statement about ignorance is not true. As a Black man, I speak proper English, I don't sag my pants and I care about my education like every should. Although proper behavior is not restricted by race, I'm consider "white" by many in my environment, which goes to show that in this day and age, ignorance is still in power as it always was.

  • @wolof2000

    ermmm...

that is NOT the SALIENT difference..

but at least you are right in pointing out that there was a significant difference..

  • The reporter is thinking we have to get rid of this Black bastard,he's too damn smart!

  • watching this I remember this part in the movie. It was like Denzel metamorphed into him and became him for the movie rather then just an actor playing a role. Amazing job and really really great film.

  • The people who think Hip hop or rap is the sum total of black culture dont know what black culture is. Its about accomishment dedication family ties etc.we are not defined by media images we define ourselves. Self determination.
