VIR close encounter with the wall off T5 - near wreck in STi

So after a couple hot laps I felt the need to push it just one more. The tires were a little too warm and I came in too hot. My first reaction was, oh I'll just ride it out in the grass and get back on track, but to my surprise the grass was still quite wet. Then I thought not again, as I didn't want to bang up the other side of the car as a result of sliding into a tire wall. As I got closer I noticed the foot or so deep ditch right before the wall. Luckily getting an angle with the ebrake and giving it a little throttle was just enough to veer away from the wall.

If you listen closely, you can hear some guys up on the hill yelling right after I saved it. My second yell/fist pump was a result of the corner worker cheering for me as well.
