Learning about Verminosis

LEAA´s group decided to address one of the most important health issues in the city of Cachoeira: water-related verminosis. The students became acquainted with the most commom verminosis in this area (infection by Ascaris lumbricoides, Taenia, Giardia intestinalis and Schistosoma mansoni) and with the symptoms related to these diseases. We also focused on how to prevent such illnesses by calling students´ attention to some unhealthy habits they have, such as drinking tap water and swimming in suspicious ponds or infected rivers.
