I often wonder if the Supremes HAD received the backing of Berry with such a fantastic lead as Jean was, where they would have gone. How many of you know that the Supremes charted a number one hit ala Jean Terrell before Diana charted. This presented problems for Motown and the decline began. Jean did not want to sign another contract with Motown because she knew she was great and there was no backing for them. They originally had decided to leave "en masse" but at the last minute Mary would not

@max9607 The once unreleased "Promises Kept" it is now available in a Hip-O-Select compilation title "The Supremes This Is The Story The 70's Albums, Vo1 1970-1973 The Jean Terrell Years" "Vol.2 The Scherrie Payne Years" is to be release late 2010! A most have to any Supremes lover, specially if you like the mostly under rated 1970's line up that reclaimed the FEMALE TRIO format instead of the DOG & PONY SHOW of LEAD & BACKUP SINGER OF DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES!

@stage7 Buddy, you're so right, Jean Terrell made every song she recorded her own, there's a very interesting recording "overlap" by both Jean Terrell & Diane Ross of Laura Nyro's "Time And Love" here in YouTube, both versions are recorded over the same music track so as the musical arrangements are almost identical when both voices are put on top of each other Jean makes Diane sound like what she truly was, A HIGH PITCH BACKGROUND SINGER!
