Jesus Christ Superstar.1973 movie.
Everything's Alright.

Filmed primarily in Avdat, the Dead Sea and the Bell Caverns in Israel, Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1973, Oscar-nominated film adaptation of the rock opera of the same name, based on the conflict between Judas and Jesus in the last weeks before the crucifixion of Jesus. The film was directed by Norman Jewison. Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson were nominated for two 1974 Golden Globe Award for their portrayals of Jesus and Judas, respectively.

Though it attracted criticism from some religious groups, the film was generally well received.

Lyrics by Tim Rice - Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Mary Magdalene:
Try not to get worried
Try not to turn on to
Problems that upset you
Don't you know
Everything's alright
Yes everything's fine
And we want you to sleep well tonight
Let the world turn without you tonight
If we try
We'll get by
So forget all about us tonight

Apostles' Women
Everything's all right
Yes everything's all right yes

Mary Magdalene
Sleep and I shall soothe you
Calm you and anoint you
Myrrh for your hot forehead
Then you'll feel
Everything's all right
Yes everything's fine
And it's cool and the ointment's sweet
For the fire in your head and feet
Close your eyes
Close your eyes
And relax
Think of nothing tonight

Apostles' Women
Everything's all right
Yes everything's all right yes

Judas
Hey woman your fine ointment
Brand new and expensive
Should have been saved for the poor
Why has it been wasted?
We could have raised maybe
Three hundred silver pieces or more
People who are hungry
People who are starving
They matter more
Than your feet and hair

Mary Magdalene
Try not to get worried
Try not to turn on to
Problems that upset you
Don't you know
Everything's all right yes
Yes everything's all right yes..

Jesus
Surely you're not saying
We have the resources
To save the poor from their lot?
There will be poor always
Pathetically struggling
Look at the good things you've got!
Think while you still have me
Move while you still see me
You'll be lost
And you'll be sorry
When I'm gone

Mary Magdalene
Sleep and I shall soothe you
Calm you and anoint you
Myrrh for your hot forehead
then you'll feel
Everything's alright
Yes everything's fine
And it's cool and the ointment's sweet
For the fire in your head and feet
Close your eyes
Close your eyes
And relax
Think of nothing tonight

Apostles' Women
Close your eyes
Close your eyes
And relax
Think of nothing

Everything's all right
Yes everything's all right yes

  • In JCSS the religion is called music and no soul can proclaim itself Atheist before gods like these.

  • I like the video at 2:34 when he calms Judas and strecht their hands. A magic moment. Good performance.

  • magic song)

  • Yvonne has such an absolutely perfect crystal clear melodic voice....could bring a tear to your eye! Tune in to it at 55 sec when she says "fine" and you will c what I mean. Unless it's my exceptionally good headphones!

  • yvonne elliman is such a great singer, her voice is so soothing. this song always makes me feel better when i'm upset or sick.

  • i have to play judas in a high school production of jesus christ superstar. i will not be able to pull it off. loll

  • I love this girls eyes...Love you Marose...even though I don't show it...:) ...sorry babe. Malana makita.

  • I like more the version of 1970, with Ian Gillan, even is the same Yvonne Elliman, but in that version her voice is more soft and unique. This song is the best medicine when you have problems

  • A truly wonderful scene. To my mind and heart, Christ is truly the King of this world, and is truly seated next to God Himself, although Christ may have been God Himself in human form. I do not really know about that part.

  • great

  • When I was just a little kid I always listend to this song when I couldn't sleep. It really calmed me :)
