I was fortunate enough today to have a granstand view of track renewal at the bottom of my garden. The not so good news, is sthat it started in the early hours, with me looking through almost closed eyes at the unfolding action. This hand held video contains some of the highlights of todays action, including the various aspects of this skilled work, and the arrival of the afternoon ballast train top'n'tailed by 66027 and 66021.The first train to run over the re-laid track was another ballast train from Westbury top'n'tailed by 66199 and 66037. Only additional tamping to be done now for the line to become fully operational again, I must congratulate all the members of this Network Rail Gang for doing such a professional job in such terrible weather conditions.

  • @MG06ZT Had to film this Keith, all this action at the bottom of your garden...pure magic......Thanks as always....Bob

  • More unusual footage been a good few months for you. Not sure about weather and early start, but great shots.

  • @Rabbitbunvoo It certainly is, the rail is made of special steel that has to be flexible and hard wearing to carry the heavy freight trains...Thant's modern technology for you...Bob

  • Blimey, amazing stuff! The rail at 2:15 astounded me - how is it flexible like that!? =)
