No, it does. Pay close attention to what exactly they're doing. Go watch Polsupah. Wasilewski, like Kubrick, has mastered the form of making the audience question themselves as to why they're laughing at something so sinister and dark. (Like Full Metal Jacket) The reason why it doesn't seem it fit is all the more reason why it does.

The ending is perfect imo. Life for the happy, popular people went on in a happy party with music and sex, and the non smiling depressed one was discarded and forgotten so he wouldn't bring others down. If you're not conforming you're just a drag to them.
