what? why is every one sad?
-
That's really, really sad. :-( But at least the contents of the time capsule itself were nice 'n dry!
-
do you have a bird? sounds like it at 1:17 lol. oh and I think the car is cool! although it's a bit rusty/muddy..I still think it's interesting
-
????? thanks professor.
-
Mom always says, theirs no such thing as a dry basement in Oklahoma.
-
Our deputy's pwn
-
our lazy ass deputys are there . oh yeah their asses are right across the street. mmmm....usually it would take their big asses a week to get across the street
-
They should have buried in the desert outside Phoenix - not much water there!
-
lmao a prime example of american engineering, a complete rust bucket!
-
LOL!!!

although this archaelogical artefact definitely proves that dinosaurs WERE driving Plymouth Belvederes, if I were you I'd call the Creation Museum in Petersburg to tell them they've got a serious hole in their knowledge and they should include a Plymouth at the Dinosaur Dig Site Hall. It's the missing link between our jurassic brethren and mankind. A small step for Tulsa, a giant leap for Creationism. Well done. But we're all still doomed nevertheless.
-
what's the point of a timecapsule anyway we're all doomed i sez DOOMED
-
At least they remembered where to dig
-
a40sgal.They knew more in 1957 than you know. The russians launched the first man made satellite Sputnik into space orbit with rockets. The US army and universities had access to computers to make advanced calculations.Hydrogen bombs were already some years old.Nuclear power stations were around in 1957.Fiber optics was developed. And experts knew how to make a waterproof concrete vault and seal it properly in 1957.Those in Tulsa were apparently not experts.
-
but still, they should have thought about WATER
didnt they have concrete or sealers ??? what are u tlking about technology
-
What are you typing about? We're talking about the time capsule here in case you didn't notice.
-
Of course it would be seled better if we were to do this today but how much technology do you think they had in 1957? They did the best they could with what they had.
-
under water ?? thats fucked up
they should have sealed it properly ! Idiots ..
-
I forsee them turning this into one big goddamned money making scheme >:( why couldn't they unearth the mother fucker and just show us what the car looked like under the plastic.
-
When they buried the car in June 1957, people could enter guesses as to the actual population of Tulsa in 2007. Whomever guessed closest to the actual population of Tulsa as of June 1, 2007 wins the car. (If the person is deceased, it goes to their heirs.) They recorded the entries on microfilm, which was put into the time capsule at the time of burial.
-
The point is that this car was buried when Oklahoma was 50 yrs old, and it was to be unearthed in exactly 50 years, when Oklahoma reached its 100th year of statehood in 2007. Back then, some people couldn't imagine what the world would be like in the new millenium. Besides, as far as anyone knows, this is the very first car in the world to be buried and then retrieved from a time capsule.
-
It looks awesome! See my video post /watch?v=ye4WOha1f2k
