The Remington ACR continues to go through evolutionary changes. At SHOT 2012 we get to see the current form of the potential new US service rifle (assuming it wins the military trials). There are significant differences between the Remington ACR and Bushmaster ACR that's available on the civilian market.

  • and they still dont chrome the damn barrel... not that id buy anything from freedom group with their terrible QC anyways

  • @BigSean1992 They nitrite the barrel which has the same net effect as chrome lining it, that being extending the service life of the barrel. The upside to nitrite treated barrels is that they don't take a hit to accuracy as the treatment is consistent, unlike chrome. I have two Bushmaster ACR's and have seen no quality issues with the two examples I own. Thanks for watching.

  • There should be a designated area at Shot Show called SNAFU...Shit Not Available For Us. It's the equivalent of going to a Victorias Secret model convention thinking you're going to hook-up with Alessandra Ambrosio. Give me something that I can get my hands on!

  • @theTicklemehellmo lol thats what i was thinking.... they said they cut 2 lbs.... soorginal is 10 lbs?

  • @TheBdogman cutting weight at the cost of some options. The SCAR still has a fold-able stock and quick change barrel.

  • I'm not sure why version I shot of the acr but it was so freaking heavy for a .223 rifle! I'm glad they are cutting down weight!

  • Just my $0.02, but I'm glad they got rid of the "quick change" barrel feature. Just unnecessary since if you're changing barrels, then you could easily throw a sharp nose spanner wrench in your kit with the parts. Also, that little springy folding charging handle thing is going to be a hugely inconvenient gimmick.

  • I want the ACR Magpul designed not the bastardized Remington/Bushmaster ACR

  • Great, they removed the folding stock and quick- change barrel options, and it's still 8 pounds.

  • will they release those stocks to the public??? i hate the folding one i have on mine?

also will it fit on a Bushmaster ACR??

  • @MrRevolverocelot1944

Whats up with you? All I've seen on here is you having a bitch at everyone.

So does your username fit with your "integrity and ignorance" mr revolver?

As for my comment, I stand by it, the "new" version of the ACR is a step or two back from the orignal concept i.e. it's LESS adaptable. The original idea was to replace the M4/16 in US service with the orignial folding stock, etc, not this half breed.

Now go and troll somewhere else.

  • they are bound and determined to ruin a gun that was damn near perfect when handed to them

  • @MrRevolverocelot1944

Wow, you are a walking irony. It's hard to believe you are any older than 13. You are acting like you are a gun knowledgable person. What did my comment had anything to do with who the gun was being sold to? I was saying that the multi-caliber design was a huge advantage over AR platforms and the fact Bushmaster got rid of it was a dissapointment.
