Please don't take this the wrong way. When I see people still using the Nikon D2x I just think "Pro wanabee" Camera's have come a long way in the 7 YEARS since this camera was the top of the range, What was once the latest soon becomes "Old hat" The Nikon D7000 is a better camera than a D2x in every way. The D2x might look the part..But that is where it ends.

It is like a top spec computer from late 2004 to a mid spec computer from late 2011,

@71shoelover An interesting comment, I guess this is the opinion I want people to stray from - Just because technology has changed, doesn't mean it's any more useful. For what i need, the D2X has all the features I want/need, and the fact that it comes in a "pro body" just means it's all the features I want/need in a sturdier, longer lasting package. For some people it may not do the job, for my landscapes, its perfect. It renders images wonderfully and I've never wished for more :)

ya I missed that at the end of your video I have a three year old running around lol.I have a nikon d40 and a d80 and am thinking of selling them to get a d90 or a d300.I like to shoot landscape photos and for some reason just love the image quality of the d200 also just wondering what your thoughts are on this. thanks tom

@jarhead262 Sellling your 2 cameras, you could probably buy a D90 without needing anything else, but I would personally steer clear of the D90 - Fantastic camera, but for i think $200 more, the D7000 is a much better choice, and if you want a D300, obviously you want to spend a little extra. The D200 was the same era as my D2X, so I would suggest the image quality is good on the D200, maybe not quite on par with the pro D2X. The D300 is a better choice than the D200 - It is the improved edition.

I still use mine a lot after owning it 4 years..I wont be upgrading it for a while as I yet to see a camera that can work in low temperature's like the D2x..I was At Alaska working and everybody's cameras refused to work or the mirrors locked up in the cold..the sharpness and colors are superb much more natural than the D300..As an heavy duty work tool its unbeatable.and the focusing is as fast as they come in low light..draw back ? ISO compared to some but I can live with that...

Does the d2x???? mmm NO. You can buy a D2x body for around £450 GBP. To be honest I would pass. The D2x is SEVEN Years old now. That is a long time in technology terms. People forget YOU ARE BUYING TECHNOLOGY when you are buying camera's now. What was once the latest soon will go out of date.

@71shoelover first of all d7000 is just a midrange dslr with a dual card slots and a boosted megapixel but after all that its just another brand new loaded gun that you cannot quickly pull out of its holster and fire when you need it the most. i have a d3s which is amazing and i wanted to buy a d2x if i can find one. these are cameras that have and still proving what they can "actually" do, unlike the newcomer d7000 who's just been in the business but already have a big mouth....

This is a good review if you take the several year old D40 vs this several year old pro body, but even a D3100/5100 will give you better image quality than this...And this guy can still cost 1000$ used just for the body

Thanks for the video! I've been looking around for an upgrade from my D40 and I have come across this camera. Going to a camera shop I was discouraged from this until I saw your opinion. All of your reasons have re-sparked my urge for photography and I remembered that photography isn't about what camera you have but more about what you learn from you camera. Thanks!

@mattandhisnikon That is cool. If your D2x does what you need it to do then why change. I still use my Nikon D40 as a back up camera, It is a little gem of a camera, Some say better than the D40x,D60 and D3000 that replaced it as a budget Nikon DSLR. I upgraded to a D7000 as I wanted to challenge my picture skills, It also has a nice option of 1080hd movie mode, And it,s low light pictures are amazing..Even at 3200 and 6400 ISO the pictures are great.Thank you for your reply
