Progressive metal is meant to be listened to and appreciated aurally, which is more difficult if some neckbeard is shoving you around under the guise of moshing.
You think anyone's ever moshed at a king crimson/any prog act's show? Fuck no. Because it makes you look like a tool. Cedric just doesn't want to see anyone trampled/injured (or worse) during their set.
tl;dr, their gig, their stage, their rules, quit your bitchin'.

@canesrule96 i guess its just a matter of opinion... but my point is that people dont even do that. at least everybody jumping together would be something (yeah, its a blast when an entire audience syncs up like that) but they dont. id rather flail by myself like an asshole poser than sit there like a rock waiting to be told what to do. something has happened in the last 10 years or so but there is zero enthusiasm at shows anymore. and the bands are fucking garbage too.

@ChristBurner Umm, you can express yourself in different ways besides slam dancing like a fucking asshole. Ever been compacted in a small little venue when everyone is tightly moving vertically, in unison to a song? It's way more fun than kicking the air. It doesn't exclude anyone, and it matches the energy better. You're actually listening to the band play instead of swinging your fists like a dumbass. Sorry, but crowd surfing and slam dancing is for posers. Accept it or don't.

i just want to go on record by saying i love everything that these guys write the music is superb. i just have a problem with people telling other people how they are supposed to act. if you wanna kill each other, bash each others skulls in whatever have at it. it just makes me mad cause i feel like every time i go to a show, this is why everyone just stands around like zombies with their phones in the air. i remember going to shows when i was younger and it was like a riot. AND FUN

@canesrule96 AND ANOTHER THING!!! seriously this fuckin pisses me off man. how many times have you heard people on youtube posts say "oh man, if i was there id totally go fuckin nuts." or "aww man, im so mad i missed that show i would have lost my mind" ACTUALLY no you wouldnt cause as soon as you started to get into it you got the band saying "hey dont so that youre gonna hurt someone" seriously, fuck you guy. these people ruin good old fashion rock and roll shows..

@canesrule96 i guess i shouldnt say "nobody" but nobody who dosnt deserve it ..you dont wanna get hurt dont stand in front of thirty kids swingin there arms around hahaha its that simple.you can still enjoy the bands performance. all moshing is, is what cedric does on stage. in a pit its not just one guy its 30 kids i dont see why hes gotta be a douche about it. like hes the only one aloud to get totally bat shit crazy at the show. going nuts and freaking out is the best part

@ChristBurner If that's the only way you can express yourself, then so be it. The Mars Volta isn't even a band you can really mosh to. That's why he said "save that shit for warped tour". If you honestly think that no one gets hurt by that, then you're lying to yourself. I've never seen it myself, but I've seen videos, I've heard stories, etc. People get hurt, involuntarily. Besides, who granted the douche bags kings of the concert? They take up so much space with their bullshit.

@fabsthevamp in the mean time hes chuckin mic stands and cymbal stands into the audience..(and not that cheap onstage shit those metal mic stands are heavy) but yeah we dont want anybody getting hurt.
