@dynko Iwama Ryu you and I both. I trained for 7 years in Cambridge, England and was just a few weeks away from my 1st dan grading when I had to leave. It's been a while now and I am about to try a Shohei Juku dojo (Morito Suganuma Shihan is the head) as there is no Iwama Ryu in Vancouver. There style seems similar to Iwama: /watch?v=jZZNdTb1S6E

@plonk7 you're damn right :) i hear it all the time but people when asked "come on, just visit our trainings and see and FEEL for yourself" just start being dodgy like "i'be had enough of falls in judo 12 years ago" and "i don't feel like i want to be thrown around". and really, i think those nonbelievers would enjoy my sensei's yonkyo the same way as i do :) iwama ryu is NOT dancing.

Ah - always a pleasure to see the armchair critics rolling out their detailed analysis. Perhaps they would care to put up a video of their Kote Gaeshi so we can witness the technique done to perfection? All we need now is for someone to roll out the old chestnut "Aikido is useless in real fight. That why never see it in MMA"

In Tissier’s kote gaeshi his energy/ki goes in the same direction

as his butt, backwards – 0:49

He is creating a big hole in the front at the contact point when he

breaks posture. That’s why he has to bend down so far to finish.

He is all shoulders.

If he did this with his back to a wall he would fall forwards.

He’s moved away from the fundamentals of Aikido.

I bet that if a criminal attacked someone that fought back with a kote gaeshi, he would give up of crime life bcoz of being afraid of finding another aikidoka ahahahah xD

i am myself a godan ranked aikido master,and sensei christian tissier, is sure one of the best instructors for aikido in europe.for the fact that you dont seem to know aikido very well,i would recommend you,to take part in a training with him,and attack him with all you got,and i give you a 100% hint,you wont even land one punch..
