Here is an example of some cheap bolt on power for your 202 or 3.3 Torana. This helps the engine rev easier and makes it more responsive and seem more powerful. Allows for a punchy midrange and raises the rev limit.

  • This is very interesting. But I got a problem. I live in Eastern Caribbean and kingswood 202 parts are rare especially performance parts. Is there a online store where I could get this fly wheel ?? and if so, would I be able to get a stock ( recondition /new )engine to put in. This car has been in my family for a long time and I am trying to keep it running. Help needed !!!!!

  • @1985jalexander you could try hotsixes.com

  • This is interesting. What are the advantages of lightening a flywheel? Why don't cars come with lighter flywheels from the factory? Thanks.

  • @1971ojoalparche1971 Theres good reasons why manufacturers didnt do this. It aids torque with a heavy flywheel and adds to the pull up hills or when you have a carload and it helps keep the revs down which gives reliability. If ou lighten a flywheel in an old car its like a a shot of NOS, the car pulls harder through the rev range and becomes more responsive. Hold a bike wheel in your hands and spin it then try and change direction take weight off it then do it, more responsive :)

  • how light is a blue or red motor as it doesnt say in the vid mate :)

  • I only had a 202 "Red" and 3.3 Black spare in my garage so im unsure if the blue is the same weight as the black and not sure on the 138/149/179/161/173/186 weights

  • I was looking at getting a lightened flywheel for my Kingswood but I decided I would rather the extra torque, It takes slightly longer to spin up but you have a fair amount more power once you get the momentum going. It's got a blue 202 that's been heavily worked though so it probably spins the extra weight a lot easier than a mild build might.

cool I would be checking it out there is hope for the 202...... I haven't figured out what I doing with the transmission because the 4 speed transmission is showing signs of causing problems, months after a full body restoration and great paint.

Do you think I could get a 5 speed automatic transmission from another engine to hook up bolt for bolt ??

  • @202ToranaMan thanks, do you think I could get a 5 speed transmission to hook up on the original 202 engine

  • @202ToranaMan Excellent, thanks.
