Dr Lowery, Get Out and Vote in Local Election

This letter is not related to Dr.Lowery's comments.

On this morning, Im disturbed and yet settled. I am settled because I will allow God to guide me with His wisdom in my choices. Ive listened to the Atlanta Mayoral debate. My mind has been changed. Change is a good thing, however; when one changes their mind during an election, its not good for candidate that they once endorsed. Ive listened to personal attacks, improper use of grammar and enunciation, skirting the issues, issues of racism, and just plain old fashioned foolishness. Im sure Im not the only one that has had a change of mind.

The candidate I once endorsed has embarrassed me with their improper enunciation usage. I recently viewed a television commercial and thought to myself, maybe, just maybe that was my hearing playing tricks on me. Now, Im not being as judgmental as one would think, but if youre representing a city such as Atlanta the Mecca, we must be able to understand what youre saying. I will also state that I dont feel that I have the qualifications as of yet to handle such a prestigious role as Mayor of Atlanta, but for all of the jobs I do hold, you will not hear the over usage of improper enunciation. I heard far too many personal attacks on another candidate from this candidate also. I thought this race was supposed to be about helping the people and the economy. Lets not assassinate ones character while running a campaign.

There was another candidate that I was not aware of that consistently said, You know what I mean. I thought, if they say you know what I mean one more time, Im going to scream, Please state what you mean?!

There were only two individuals that actually stuck to the issues and one of the two outshined everyone on the panel. This person may be considered the black sheep, if youll allow me to use this term. Im happy for the black sheep, however; the media is using false information to sway you concerning their vote. Id like to think that many people will make up their own mind as to what candidate theyll vote for. The media is giving false percentages. For example: The media may say this candidate has 50% of the vote and some people may look at this and say well, theyre going to win anyway so Ill just vote for them. People please, please, please, make up your own mind! Your vote really does count!

There are other individuals that caused me to scratch my head in amazement. Why are they in the race? They dont have any answers. They have one concern. Are these candidates just asking for 15 minutes of fame? Lord knows ALL of the candidates have hidden agendas!

The housing situation: Hmmm, does anyone really want to deal with that? Who are the candidates asking to vote? The original Atlantans have been moved away from the city. Remember the public housing? Well, those people have been shipped away to Never Never land. Never to be heard from or thought of again, which means the people that actually know these candidates, cant vote for or against them. Remember the single mother, the grandmother raising her grandchildren? Theyve been re-located. I love the diversity thats taking place, but do they have a real voice for Atlanta? Theyre just moving here. Pay attention people and make YOUR VOTE COUNT!
