Datahowler "Get Over (Live)" - Akai MPD26 + Ableton

Datahowler performs his song "Get Over" in a quick improvisational routine using only a custom MIDI mapped Akai MPD26 and Ableton 8.

For those who want to know more about this performance: Clips are being launched with the pads. Some are set to "toggle" some to "gate". Most of them launch on the "1/8th" note.

PLZ HELP. D:

I have an MPD26 and I'm not quite sure how to program it... I wanted to trigger effects in ableton with the pads but when I do that that the effect only stays on for like a split second, even if I'm holding the pad down. Also, how do I use the "Program Change" stuff?

@erectacocky Depends on the effect and how you hold it, but most likely you are going to have to trigger the effect with a clip and then launch the clip with the MPD. Midi map the MPD to the clip and set it to launch as a toggle or something.

Is there a better source of lessons or all-in-one instruction for noobs than the tutorials provided by Ableton and akai?

@datahowler Aw man, I was hoping it would be as simple as midi mapping the Device Activator to an MPD pad. :/

@dillonlandrum I actually use multiple MIDI controllers when performing live. On this video I chose just to showcase live. And thanks a lot.
