polygamy really only appears to be a tool for traditional mormons to have sex with more than one woman. it doesn't appear to have any altruistic / non-selfish value at all to me.

I like polygamy :) I have known some :) I lived with a polygamist family.

I'm sure some men do it for sex.. but most actually would find it stressful and unenjoyable having so many wives to deal with. A lot of them do it because it's the only thing they've ever been known, they're told they won't go to heaven and that they're sinning by not having multiple wives.

Some people who are married with the wife's consent engage in extra marital sex, some how a piece of paper makes it illegal. Yes or no I just think that people who have to many children should be capped on how much benefits they can get. Not saying people who are polygamists are all lazy but I can imagine some will take advantage of a system that allows it. But then I would also like to see church and state completely divorced from each other, no more loby groups for any religion

@cindykaye Same here; I wanted to find out about this interesting phenomenon, not get a bunch of holy rollers who say that all the earth will be blessed through Avraham's seed (through all four of his wives?) and who quote King David (who killed for one of his wives) and his son Shlomo (who had 300 plus 700 concubines, if you take the biblical record at all literally, as I don't but they do).

Bishop Warren Snow of Manti, San Pete County, although the husband of several wives, desired to add to his list a good-looking young woman in that town. When he proposed to her, she declined the honor, informing him that she was engaged to a younger man....he (the younger man) was one evening summoned to attend a meeting where only trusted members were present. 'defendingmormonism' is right, lhvm are devoted to preventing people from being misled by a false prophet, by exposing Smith's fraud and pointing to the real Jesus, not Smith, as the source of truth.

It is mormonism that is discredited here.
