My sister gets makeup from an MLM; my Mother-in-Law gets her herbal supplements from an MLM; I know a lady at church that likes to sell jewelry offered through an MLM.
Heck-- where would our leftovers be today without Tupperware?
Multilevel Marketing (MLM) is a cousin of Direct Sales and Network Marketing. In fact, most people consider MLM to be the same thing.
...and Yes, it's 100% legit.
Multilevel Marketing can be a great opportunity for determined, resourceful people that love coaching others. Understanding sales and marketing is essential for those getting into business for the first time. The start-up cost for MLM businesses is relatively low, and often includes sales coaching from your Upline. Why? Because when you make money, your Upline makes money as well.
If you choose the right 'opportunity' (MLM company) and augment your sales training with online marketing strategies, the MLM industry can bring serious, exponential growth.

@quitejaded - (cont...) Then transform yourself into a leader--educate yourself on sales, posturing, success...and I highly recommend getting a business mentor (which can sometimes be your Upline). Bottom line is, if you don't like sales, recommending what you love to others, or if you are not prepared to be a leader, you will continue to dislike the MLM industry...and it's probably not for you. hope that helps! visit my website if you have more questions! :)

@quitejaded ...I visited Advocare's website, and I can see why you're not into the products. They don't seem very quality or exciting to me. An MLM is a BUSINESS. And like any business requires effort and investment. If you want to succeed in the MLM industry, look around and pick a company with product you can really feel good about, and just use it in your life. Your new-found health or happiness should sell for you. People will ask what you're doing/ taking to make you so happy (cont..)

I'm apart of Advocare which is MLM. I really don't like it. First of all, its NOT a scam which is everyone's first worry. But I'm really not into direct sales unless I 100% believe in the product. I joined Advocare because I wanted extra money and I liked the philosophy and products of the company. As I get more into health, I find that -- for the average person this is great, but for me, I cannot whole-heartedly sell it. I am so unmotivated to sell and thus I make no money.
