First of all: a big thank you out to DevilMastah (http://www.youtube.com/user/devilmastah - Check out his profile!) for helping change/search for the fault in the ActionScript code that was keeping Adobe Flash from outputting the TV clock to an FT file.

Up untill 2004 or 2005 national, public TV networks closed down with a clock usually preceeded by a host telling you about the first network that was going to open the channel the upcoming new day and some of the first programs.
This was before computers became a standard for airing programs outside the long hours end directors usually had to make.
(An example can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H9JQD-tf4w&feature=related )

At the local television station of my city, we are looking at ways to create a somewhat smoother transition to the newspage-system we switch back to after a live broadcast and this is where CasparCG comes looking around the corner.

The flash template consists out of a clockface object (grouped small rectangles outlined by a texture I first used but I was unable to make transparent) in it's own layer and three seperate layers for the hands of the clock.

Because the background is transparent you can mix in every kind of background you'd like in CasparCG Client (can be JPEG, PNG or an MP4 movie.)
The first clock was one I made because I was in a humoristic mood, the picture was taken February 2011 when our prime minister visited Purmerend.

Also, a thank you goes out to the users at the CasparCG forum.
I'm now going to give this a review at the station for possible implementation.

  • @rillebolle93 : I'm not really sure what you mean by that, but if you are reffering to the clockface, I grouped the "12" rectangle and the "6" so that they would start to rotate around the center, rotated them to the "9" and "3" and ungrouped them.

Then I grouped the 4 small rectangles I had at that point and rotated them (I had a texture with the clock face as a reference point) untill they were at the right point.

I centered the hands accordingly to the clockface coordinates.

  • How did you get the clock to render so perfectly?
