No, I don't use an emulator to play PS1 games, so I don't know.

If you want to change which slot a character is in, you need to have more than 4 characters in the party, then open the menu, and goto Order, then there should be an option at the top called Replace, this will let you move characters on/off the active party, which also lets you change which slot their in.

ok well do you have any idea how i switch controllers on psx emulator? because im kinda clueless on how, also how do you change which character is in slot 2 like if i want to be philia how can i put her in slot 2, if shes in slot 4?

There's one in the dungeon where you first meet Rutee, it's hard to miss.

If you didn't get that one, search in one of the FAQs on GameFAQs for how to get other ones.

oh ok. well i don't really have the game i have it on psx emulator and i dont know how to set second controller. and where do you get the channeling?

You need to equip a Channeling on the character in slot 2 (or whatever slot your other controller(s) are in), then when in battle push select on that controller, and switch to semi-auto or manual.

You can play with up to four players using this method.

To play 1-player with a different character, you'll need to push select on controller 1 in battle to set Stan to auto, then set slot 2's character to semi-auto/manual, and you'll have to switch controllers everytime you enter/exit battle.
