Eli Cohen ZT'L HYD, who was born and lived in Egypt for many years, was always a devoted Jews who knew much Torah. He was inspired to Zionism when members of Avraham Stern's Lechi assassinated Lord Moyne in Cairo during Israel's fight against British rule. Eli Cohen was an Israeli spy in Syria for many years before being discovered. He used a radio codes to transmit secret messages back to the Mossad in Israel.
His work greatly helped Israel during the Six-Day War, especially in capturing the Golan.
He was murdered, despite objections, by hanging after gruesome torture. His body has never been returned, (it would reveal what the torture was) and his widow has pleaded for the return-but not in return for Arab terrorists to be freed to go kill more Jews.
Eli is a Jewish Israeli hero and martyr we will never forget.
