PUSH

There used to be an annoying tv show called The Land of the Lost
its kind of an insight into the downfall of mankind, if you will
a half-hour fallout shelter broadcast from a distant shore
the point is, they never killed the bloody dinosaur

the moral of the story is there is no moral
if you missed it today you can always watch it tomorrow
had a nightmare where Nietzsche was dressed up like a clown
I was just about to jump off a bridge
he says to me
matt, don't look down, don't look down, don't look down it'll go away
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter where you go, where you go
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter where you go, where you go
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter

you ever notice how Shaggy and Scooby always ran around in a circle
a friend of mine thought it was a metaphor for life so he did
did you ever notice there was a Nixon sticker on the back of the Mystery Machine
it said, I would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those meddling kids

the moral of the story there is no moral
what I've been trying to say is what I've been saying all along
I had a dream there was a mermaid swimming in my bathtub
said life was like an airplane, it'll crash before long

so don't look down, don't look down, don't look down it'll go away
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter where you go
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter

if it ain't here it doesn't really matter where you go, where you go
if it ain't here it doesn't really matter

spotlights painted the building and the people gathered for the show
and a bum would finger the wind to see which way he'd blow
and the evening news people sat in their chairs
and waited for their makeup
and the police controlling the crowd in the street
well, they didn't think to look up
and it would suddenly seem that the world would turn the other way
as if the sun had come out and then changing the darkness into day
perhaps we are most peaceful when our sanity's on edge
'cause no-one bothered to wonder who the guy was
stranded on the ledge

so you just
don't look down
don't look down
don't look down it'll go away

don't look down
don't look down

don't look down
just push

  • what album is this from? I thought I had all of his albums but I don't have this song.

  • You should know that not all of his songs have graced his albums.

Do some research on your own friend, look it up. You never know what you might learn when you do a little searching on your own. :)

  • @emilyrl

yeah if I had time for that I would

This joint sounds like it would be on last of the ghetto astronauts.

  • Suit yourself. :)

  • Could you please send me the mp3 for this please ? I will pm you my e mail address if it doesn't bother you

  • @cutthatcity it is from an unreleased album called 15 hours on a September Sunday. commonly mislabeled as being on the previous demo euphony. this is my favorite Matthew Good band song followed by Last of the ghetto astronauts which i believe is on the same demo not the album by the same name.

  • @cutthatcity "In 1994, they (The Matthew Good BAND) won a prize in (local radio station's) CFOX 99.3's annual local Vancouver independent artist competition "Vancouver Seeds". The prize included recording time at a local studio/recording school, where, in September 1994, they recorded "15 hours ON A SEPTEMBER THURSDAY'. This DEMO TAPE included songs like "Second Sun", "Dancing Invisible", and "PUSH." **Hope this helps. Really worth following Matt's blog through website and FB.
