The Jazz-O-Matic Four (from the Netherlands) started in 1973. The band has an unique composition of cornet, bass saxophone, piano and banjo. Three of these four instruments can perform the rhythm function, while all four instrument can play solo. This makes the band seem larger than it is, hence the nickname "the worlds smallest big band".
The J-O-M 4 plays music from the period 1915-1940 both classic jazz and evergreens.
The band played at many jazz clubs and festivals all over the world, like in Japan, Pakistan, Curacao, the US and Europe.
This performance was recorded at the 14th of January 2007 in Zutphen.
The line up is:
Peter Ivan - cornet, flugelhorn and marching-trombone
Ad Houtepen - bass saxophone and vocals
Tom Stuip - banjo and national 4-string plectrum guitar
Hans de Bruijn - piano and vocal
On this video it's the J-O-M 4 + "1".
Ronald Jansen Heijtmajer - clarinet and alto saxophone
