Metal Mestizo Mexican Power Music Pachequiza

I'd been wanting to hear a band called Rockercoatl. They were being presented as part of the May festival here in Puebla and billed as "rock en Nahuatl". So I went over to the Zocalo to check them out.
They came out looking like your typical heavy-metal types, except for the lead singer guy (who also played guitar and pipes) who wore dark facepaint across his eyes, a peacock feather in one ear, and this sky-blue shirt with vertical stripes of different coloured embroidery that I wanted to positively mug him for in a dark alley. (I collect loud shirts.) They started with a very native pipes and rattles piece—then picked up their electric guitars and went completely heavy metal. All the older folks immediately grabbed their stuff and escaped. I moved all the way to the front, hoping a mosh pit would start but none did and I'm not hip enough to be like Violent J from Insane Clown Posse and mosh by myself.
Anyway, these guys ruled. Imagine Iron Maiden using riffs from norteño and ranchero (very Bavarian beer-hall stuff) music, only played on their guitars, with Nahuatl lyrics and occasional use of acoustic guitar for effect. I don't think I've ever come across a more imaginative and syncretic band and I am going to get the CD.
Pues bien, ahora si, a contar lo que ocurrió en el recinto...Inició puntual a las 7 de la noche ROCKERCOATL de la ciudad de Puebla, descargando una mezcla de metal con sonidos de la música tradicional mexicana, y no hablo del mariachi, hablo de algo así como "metal mestizo", no podría definir su música en un estilo, vamos, que con trabajo puedo darles una idea de a que suenan, heavy y death con música tradicional mexicana; a pesar de esta extraña mezcla la gente los recibió muy bien e incluso les pidieron que siguieran tocando (lo cual no pasó con ninguna otra de las bandas mexicanas) cuando bajaban del escenario tras poco más de 30 minutos de actuación. Habrá que buscar más sobre este grupo que canta un poco en español y un poco en un lenguaje indígena, el Nahuatl y que ha sido buen entremés para lo que venía.
