Lol the strat vs les paul arguements just make me laugh. It's different for your playing style, i'm not being controversial but for me i prefer a quick action neck so i'd opt for the strat, however, gibson les pauls do have a nice sound in certain heavier songs, but then the stratocaster has a very changeable sound so it's kinda split

Personally, if you wanna play rock or heavy metal, then I'd go for the Les Paul. But then again some kickass rock guitarists play Fenders (Malmsteen, Hendrix). I think Fenders fret so much smoother, and easier. And the prices for a Gibson are just ridiculous. Even for the beautiful looks and tone, i just don't think it is worth it. Fender All the way

@AndreErtz19 Thats what you think, the difference is just big as the prices are big in between them.. Maybe if you try a gibson you will understand...

Beautiful strat. I own an. awesome cherry finished epi SG. But your strat sounds so clean. I love it. You play really good by te way

lol sultans of swing. good song, why not play all of it though, including the instrumental at the end (which reminds me of the second half of the song layla by eric clapton and derek and the dominoes)

Honestly man, I think Gibsons are overrated. I went to the closest guitar store the other day to try out some amps and brought my Fender American Standard Strat along to try 'em out, and I was there for a while playing along until I decided to try out a Gibson Les Paul. I honestly hated it. The modern day Gibsons have just murdered themselves. The neck, the tone, the weight all killed me, I played for maybe 3 minutes with that thing and put it back.

These really are two completely different types of solid body with completely different sounds..
I think probably about 80-90% of tone is in someones hands really, & depends on their style & technique.
But if your gonna be playing hard rock & want a really thick aggressive chunky sound then you really can't go wrong with the Les Paul.
For this guys playing style i felt the extra top-end twang & glassy quality of a Strat suited his playing more though.
does anyone know what song he's playing at around the 30 second mark with the strat

Bro, please, you've got some really sexy equipment there, both guitars and the amp kick ass. So please do us all a favor and do something tweaking for some better tones.
