Personally I think it sounds great. But then I drive a TDi MKii :D I think the sound appeals to guys who liked old muscle cars as well. The modern four bangers just sound like weed-eaters to me.

The 1.9 unit in the MK4 Golfs, Mk1 Leons etc imo is one the the best Diesel units of all time imho.  Reliable and easily given a performance boost.

I was an owner of a 1.9 150Bhp 6 Speed Leon Cupra, now I have an 2.0 Leon FR, the modern 2.0 is just not as refined or responsive, even if they ship it with more power. The 1.9 an age old design that was perfected. In some ways I miss it, but that's progress.

Guys before you comment just go and look up the reliability of diesel engines !, reliability is 100% better then your normal every day petrol engine, Just look it up, Do some research before you leave comments, If you drive your diesel like a twat then expect it to brake, and all turbos will die if you over boost them or don't let your engine warm up IE let the oil run about first before you REV it, GT TDI comes in 110BHP 130BHP 150BHP. The 150BHP also has a 6 speed gearbox....
