Glasgow art-pop melodists Wake the President return with 'Elaine', their first single in two years, ebullient indie-pop ode to love and being left behind, 'Elaine' celebrates Wake the President's cultural lineage (The Smiths, C86, Postcard Records) and enlivens it with modern hooks -- from vocalist and songwriter Erik Sandberg's cunning wordplay and sing-a-long chorus, to his identical twin Bjorn's lambent guitar. And that's not to mention the handclaps...As we have come to expect from Wake the President, the versatile jangle-pop of 'Elaine' is loveable and wholly accessible, but not afraid to flaunt its intellect. 'Elaine' is the first single to be taken from Wake the President's second album, Zumutung!, which is due for release in September It's the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2009 debut long-player, You Can't Change That Boy.
